Reds Net 6-2 Win
|
The Cincinnati Reds defeated the Cleveland Spiders, 6-2. Right Fielder Homer Smoot deserved a large share of the credit. Smoot went 4 for 4 with 4 singles, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once for the Reds. Cincinnati's record now stands at 25-35, placing them 5th in the Western League.
The Reds had to work out of trouble in the top of the ninth. The score was 6-2, Cincinnati, with one out. Cleveland, with the bases loaded, was mounting a threat. Otis Clymer dug in at the plate, but on a 1-1 changeup, he hit into a double play.
