Reds Cut Down Scouts, 6-3
|
The Cincinnati Reds picked up a win at League Park II 1894-1901, dropping the Kansas City Scouts, 6-3. John Truan, who is tied for 2nd in the WL in innings pitched with 282.1, was the difference-maker. Truan yielded 3 runs over 9 innings to notch the win. He scattered 10 hits, walked 0, and struck out 4. His record improves to 12-17. The last-place Scouts now sit at 44-81.
Harry Steinfeldt had a big 2-run triple for the Reds in the bottom of the third inning. With Cincinnati leading 2-1 and runners on 1st and 3rd, he got a fastball from Clarence Currie, who is tied for 7th in the WL in innings pitched with 258.2, and swatted a triple to right-center. It was his 8th triple of the season, and more importantly, it put the Reds ahead, 4-1.
"We'll pop the top on a cold beverage and get back to work tomorrow," Truan said.
