Cleveland pitcher Jim Gardner had a large part in his team beating the St. Louis Browns, 8-3. The right-hander kept opposing batters in check throughout the game. After today's action, Cleveland sits at 63-52, while St. Louis falls to 47-68.
Gardner broke a deadlock in the top of the sixth inning, when he hit a 2-run single, putting Cleveland up, 5-3.
