Pittsburgh Picks Up Another L
Philadelphia parlayed a decent outing from starter Bob Black into a solid win over the Pittsburgh Pirates. The final score was 5-3. Black, now 20-8, was the winner. In 9 innings, he gave up 7 hits, while striking out 2, walking 1, and allowing 3 runs. With the victory, the Phillies upped their record to 75-38.

The Phillies got a big hit from catcher Red Dooin. Facing Pittsburgh pitcher Andy Coakley in the bottom of the fifth, Dooin pounded a run-scoring triple to right-center. His 3rd triple of the season put the Phillies ahead, 2-1.

"Been a rough stretch for us," said Pittsburgh manager Bill Leisz.
