Win Makes Washington 57-54
Washington turned a good effort from starter Scott Stratton into a win over the Pittsburgh Pirates at Exposition Park 1891-1908. The Senators won the game, 5-2. Stratton, who finished 3rd in the EL in innings pitched with 301.1 last year, went the distance for Washington. He gave up 2 runs on 7 hits. The Senators now have a mark of 57-54.

In the top of the first inning, first baseman Bill Hassamaer had a run-scoring double for Washington. It was his 19th double of the season and put the Senators on top, 1-0.

"Scott pitched like a son-of-a-gun," said Washington manager Pony Sager.
