Reds Pick Up 4-3 Win
|
The Cincinnati Reds did just enough to sneak past the Cleveland Spiders, 4-3, at League Park II 1894-1901. Cincinnati pitcher John Truan, in particular, had a standout performance. In 9 innings, Truan surrendered 9 hits, while striking out 6 and walking 3. He allowed 3 runs. Cincinnati, at 42-43, holds down third place in the Western League.
Joe Kelley dealt the Spiders a blow in the bottom of the second. Batting with a runner on 3rd and Cincinnati leading 3-0, Kelley, who is tied for 9th in the WL in home runs with 1, hit a 2-2 forkball for a run-scoring single.
"We'll kick back tonight and enjoy this win," said Kelley.
