Louisville Blanks Reds, Lundgren Wins
|
The Cincinnati Reds manager was philosophical in the clubhouse following a shutout loss to the Louisville Colonels. The Reds were overpowered by Louisville starter Carl Lundgren, who hurled his club to victory, 7-0.
"It was just one of those games -- shake it off and do better next time," Ned Connor said.
Over 9 innings, Lundgren blanked Cincinnati on 4 hits with 4 walks and 2 strikeouts.
"I kept them off balance. I could tell a lot of them were late on fastballs because they were fouling them off. Once you see that, it sets them up for other pitches," Lundgren said.
"I set them up, where if they chased one breaking ball, they were going to chase another one."
So far in 12 appearances this season, Lundgren has recorded 7 wins and sustained 5 losses. He has pitched 101 innings, yielded 83 hits, fanned 54 and has a 2.14 ERA.
