Cleveland Lose, 7-0, to Reds, Mullin
"Good pitching beats good hitting" is an old baseball adage.

Well, good pitching also beats bad hitting.

George Mullin of the Cincinnati Reds proved the point at League Park II 1894-1901, holding the Cleveland Spiders to 6 hits in a complete game shutout victory.

"Mullin made us look real bad today," Spiders manager Russ McKelvy said in a postgame interview. "He was outstanding. He was down in the zone with all his pitches. Everything was sinking."

Mullin had 4 strikeouts and gave up 2 walks as the Reds took the 7-0 win.

His record this season is 2-4 in 5 starts and Mullin has a 3.66 ERA.
