Scouts Rally Late to Nip Colonels
|
The Kansas City Scouts and Louisville Colonels played an exciting game.
Louisville got a big-time effort from pitcher Fritz Clausen, but it wasn't enough to keep the Kansas City Scouts from winning the game, 3-2. Clausen threw 8.0 innings of 4-hit ball for the losing team. Picking up the win was Lee Viau. He went 10.1 innings, allowing 2 runs on 11 hits. The right--hander struck out 2 and walked 1. Frank Killen, who finished 4th in the WL in saves with 2 last year, earned the save for Kansas City.
Kansas City used the timely hitting of Bob Glenalvin to seize the win. The second baseman stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the 11th inning to put the Scouts on top, 3-2. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
After the game, Kansas City manager Jack Manning applauded the team's effort. "They busted their tails out there," he said.
Kansas City now owns a record of 18-25.
