Red-Hot Burkett Cools Off New York
Philadelphia Phillies fans were pleased to see so many goose eggs up on the scoreboard as Jesse Burkett blanked the New York Giants, 1-0, at Polo Grounds 1890-1910. Burkett stopped them on 3 hits while walking 3 and striking out 2.

"Once he gets in a groove, he can be dynamite," Phillies skipper Matthew Goforth said. "He was on top of his game in this one."

Thus far this year, Burkett has hit .301 with no home runs and 13 RBIs.
