Leopardos Rally Past Leones to Claim 1-0 Series Lead
The Santa Clara Leopardos combined strong pitching and timely hitting to take Game 1 of the Campeonato Interdivisional, 2-1, in a walk-off win over the Habana Leones.

The Leopardos got a solid performance from starter Gerardo Solís. The right-handed Solís threw 9.0 innings of 5-hit ball in the win, which gave the Leopardos a 1-0 lead to start the best-of-5 series.

The clutch at-bat came in the bottom of the ninth inning, when Santa Clara pinch hitter Sancho Gómez, facing Ismael Huerta, had a run-scoring sacrifice fly. It gave the Leopardos the 2-1 win.

"They say the first rule of the playoffs is to win the home games," Gómez said afterward. "It feels nice, but it is kind of what we were supposed to do."

The next game is set to be played tomorrow at Estadio de Santa Clara in Santa Clara.
