Tight Tilt Goes to Elefantes, 2-1
|
The Cienfuegos Elefantes went home winners at Estadio de los Elefantes, thanks in large part to starter Jeffrey McCarthy. McCarthy stifled the Mayabeque Alacranes, enabling Cienfuegos to grab the 2-1 win. McCarthy yielded 1 run over 9 innings to notch the win. He scattered 6 hits, walked 2, and struck out 2. His record improves to 10-7. The win gives Cienfuegos a season record of 70-55.
With the game tied, 1-1, in the bottom of the seventh, McCarthy had a key at-bat for Cienfuegos. With runners on 1st and 3rd, McCarthy hit a run-scoring single off Pedro García, making the score 2-1, Elefantes.
