Colonels Win Another One, 9-6
Despite a second-rate performance by starting pitcher Fritz Clausen, the Louisville Colonels were able to defeat the Cleveland Spiders, 9-6, at Eclipse Park II. Rube Waddell got the save, the 2nd for him this season. It was the 13th win in 20 games this year for the defending champion Colonels, who are picking up where they left off.

The game was at a stalemate until pinch hitter Tom McCreery came to bat in the bottom of the eighth. Facing Cleveland pitcher Charlie Smith, he hit a 3-1 fastball for a 2-run single. It was a game-changer, putting Louisville on top, 8-6.

"We're obviously playing with a lot of confidence," said Louisville manager Pete Treacey.
