The Calgary Chargers were taken down, 3-2, by the Medicine Hat Hellfire in 13 innings at Chargers Grounds, even though Felipe Duarte pitched a pretty good game for the Chargers. John Barthold snagged the win in relief. He goes to 1-0 on the season. Felipe Duarte suffered the loss. The Hellfire are now 49-50, while the Chargers fall to 60-39.

The most important at-bat for Medicine Hat came in the top of the 13th inning. With two out, Jacinto Preciado reached on an error by the SS, driving in 1 run, putting Medicine Hat up, 3-2.

"When you think about it," Preciado said, "there's often a fine line between triumph and tragedy. One pitch, one swing of the bat can make all the difference."
