Gardea Fires Shutout in Hellfire Victory
It wasn't easy but the Medicine Hat Hellfire made it look that way.

Starter Anaximandro Gardea shut out the Calgary Chargers despite having what he later called "sub-par" stuff, and the Medicine Hat Hellfire cruised to victory, 7-0. Gardea allowed only 4 hits and rang up 2 strikeouts but insisted later that he did not deserve primary credit for the win.

"It didn't feel quite right today, but I got a lot of help to get through," he said. "I trusted my catcher and the guys behind me bailed me out more than once when I screwed up."

Up to now Gardea has recorded a record of 11-5. In 16 starts he has fanned 43 batters in 146.2 innings with a 2.70 ERA.
