Meteors Take Tight Tangle
|
The Sudbury Meteors knocked off the Sault Ste. Marie Rapids, 3-2, in Ontario Baseball Association action at Sudbury Grounds. Sudbury pitcher and Ponce, Puerto Rico, native Adelio Mendiola had an outstanding performance. At 54-66, the Meteors claim 4th place in the Ontario Baseball Association Ontario North.
The outcome turned when Roberto Vázquez came to bat in the bottom of the eighth. With two out and runners on 1st and 3rd, the Sudbury pinch hitter hit a run-scoring single. It gave his team the lead and helped them secure the win.
Sudbury manager Patricio González said his team played a "no nonsense" game.
