Santiago Crafts 3-0 Shutout
Zósimo Santiago of the Brampton Florists was on top of his game.

The 25-year-old tantalized the Hamilton Hammers with crisp curves and changeups, mixed in with just enough fastballs to keep the batters honest, shutting them out, 3-0.

"He had the changeup working," Hamilton manager Lewis Smith said in postgame comments. "You knew it was coming and you still grounded out -- and then he threw it even slower."

The Brampton hurler had 1 strikeout, gave up 2 walks and surrendered 4 hits in his complete-game effort.

Santiago told reporters after the game that "keeping the ball down is the key to being successful in this league."

"If you don't do that, they'll make you pay," he said.

On his stats sheet for the year Santiago shows a 6-9 record, 15 starts, 121 innings, 51 strikeouts and a 4.76 ERA.
