Privateers Deal Laval 7-3 Defeat
|
The Sherbrooke Privateers locked up a win at Privateers Grounds, knocking off the Laval Insulaires, 7-3. On the mound for Sherbrooke was right-hander Randy MacDermid. He played a major role in the triumph. MacDermid, who is tied for 10th in the LBQ in wins with 6, went the distance for Sherbrooke. He gave up 3 runs on 6 hits. Sherbrooke is now 17-28, while Laval is 17-26.
Justin Bedford had a big 2-run home run for the Privateers in the bottom of the sixth inning. With Sherbrooke leading 4-3 and a runner on 2nd, he sized up a knuckle curve from Segundo Rodríguez, who is tied for 9th in the LBQ in quality starts with 7, and punished it. The result was his 3rd home run of the season, which put the Privateers on top, 6-3.
"Good, blue-collar kind of win," said Privateers manager Tom Richards.
