Division Series Goes the Distance, Mission Bay Prevails
Tuesday, September 17th , 1991
MLB Rookie League fans were certainly not disappointed with this Sub League 2 Division Series.
The two teams were evenly matched and the series went to the final game, with the Mission Bay Quakers prevailing over the Lincoln Buzz to advance to the League Championship Series.
Mission Bay won the final game by a score of 9-7 at Buzz Ballpark and that sealed the series 3-2.
"Things were tense in our clubhouse and dugout before and during this game, but we can let loose a bit now -- the hard work is over, for now," said first baseman Dmitri Young, who earned MVP honors.
For the series, Young hit .444 with a .583 on-base percentage. He had 3 home runs, 9 RBI and scored 6 runs.
The Mission Bay Quakers don't know who they will face in the next round. They will play the winner of the Corpus Christi Hammerheads - Miami Enforcers series. That series is tied at 2 games apiece. The League Championship Series schedule will be announced after the Division Series finishes.
