New Philadelphia Moves on to World Series
Sunday, October 6th , 1991
Being named series MVP was little solace for Sherman Obando after the New Philadelphia Lopes eliminated his Mascouche Barnstormers from the playoffs.

New Philadelphia won the final game 10-4 at Field of the Lopes and wrapped up the series 4-2.

"I couldn't care less about an MVP award when we don't even win," Obando said. "I would rather have played terrible but still had a chance to win the World Series."

Meanwhile, the New Philadelphia clubhouse was alive with celebration after the victory, with the team's skipper Robby Jenkins saying his team is "confident and strong" going into the World Series.

The New Philadelphia Lopes will play against the Des Moines Checkers in the next round. Des Moines won their series against the Lexington Counts 4 games to 1. The World Series schedule will be announced after the League Championship Series finishes.
