Manvel Draws Blanks Against Moehler Saturday, September 21st , 1991 Brian Moehler shut out the Manvel Nordiques 6-0 on a 6-hit masterpiece for the Des Moines Checkers at Ballpark of Des Moines today. "He was kind of teasing them with his off-speed stuff, and his fastball was moving everywhere," Des Moines skipper Matt Crockett said afterward. Moehler registered 11 strikeouts and issued 2 walks in pitching a gem. "We just didn't swing the bats very well. Or else he just pitched good, whichever way you want to look at it," said Manvel manager Chris Morrow after the defeat. Moehler has started 11 times this year, pitched 85 innings, fanned 73 batters and walked 37. His current record is 6 wins and 2 losses with a 2.54 ERA. |
