John Young came out of the bullpen and worked through tough situations all year, and for his performance he's been named the recipient of the Sub League 2 Reliever of the Year Award for 1991.


The 27-year-old out of Rockville, Maryland captured the award with 33 saves in 63 relief appearances, 83 strikeouts in 83 innings and a record of 9 wins and 5 losses to go with his 2.06 ERA.

"I'm thankful, it's a great honor," he told Baseball News Network.

He received 26 first place votes, as a unanimous winner. Pablo Velasco of the Madison Crush finished second in voting, while Cliff Brantley of the Raleigh Black Cats finished third.
