World Series to Fire Fighters
Sunday, October 6th , 1991
It was a hard-fought battle for both teams to make it this far. But as the saying goes, "to the victors go the spoils." For the victorious Jersey City Fire Fighters, that meant the MLB Class A World Series trophy.
The Fire Fighters took a 8-0 victory over the Chandler Spartans at Spartans Ballpark, winning their 1st championship after taking the series 4-2.
"We've got grit," said Fire Fighters left fielder Dave Zirkle, who was named MVP of the series. "We know how to win when we have to."
The new titleholders completed the regular season with a third-place finish in the Sub League 1 East Division and a 77-63 record.
