Mossville Win Division Series
Saturday, September 21st , 1991
MLB Triple A pundits who figured the Division Series between the Mossville Liberty and Akron Horsemen would go the distance were right on the mark.
The two teams battled back and forth in a spirited series, with Mossville coming out on top thanks to a 4-2 win in the deciding game at Liberty Ballpark, to wrap things up 3-2.
"You get to the last game and anything can happen, so we're overjoyed to come out on top," said Liberty catcher Manny Blancas, who was named series MVP.
For the series, Blancas had 7 hits for a .467 average. He had 1 home runs, 2 RBI and scored 2 runs.
The Mossville Liberty will play against the Newark Patriots in the next round. Newark won their series against the Cypress Air Riders 3 games to 1. The League Championship Series schedule will be announced after the Division Series finishes.
