Brewers Stun Astros, 7-3
|
The Houston Astros got a sterling performance from pitcher Josh Beckett, but the Milwaukee Brewers still prevailed, 7-3. Beckett threw 6.1 innings of shutout ball. Ben Bailey earned the win in relief. The right-hander allowed no runs on 2 hits in 1.2 innings. He upped his record to 2-0. The Astros, now 3-11, continue their poor start.
Milwaukee used the timely hitting of Alfonso Carreiras to seize the win. The right fielder stroked a 2-run single in the top of the ninth inning to put the Brewers on top, 5-3. It was his only hit in 5 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
Carreiras called the win "a lesson in teamwork."
