Razor-Sharp Halford Blanks Gettysburg
Friday, August 2nd , 1912
Freeman Halford was in command in his outing against the Gettysburg Union. He hurled the Muskegon Muskrats to a 2-0 shutout victory, yielded 8 hits and chalked up 5 strikeouts and no walks.
"A complete-game shutout is fun territory for me," he told reporters in the postgame interview. "I had good balance and mechanics and was able to keep the ball down. When I do that, good things happen."
This year Halford has compiled a 9-13 mark with a 3.03 ERA in 24 starts.
