Mainwaring and Riding Brawl, League Suspends Them Tuesday, July 31st , 1917 John Mainwaring of the Gettysburg Union and Martin Riding of the Akron Blues received notification from the league commissioner's office that they had been suspended for 5 and 10 games respectively for their part in the on-field ruckus in a recent game at West Athens Stadium. This year, Mainwaring has hit at a .222 clip with 32 hits, 1 home run, 15 RBIs and 16 runs scored. For the season, Riding has made 10 relief appearances, recorded 4 saves, compiled a 11-4 won-lost mark and a 2.09 ERA. In pitching 124.2 innings, he has totaled 52 strikeouts and 28 walks. |
