Wauseon Shuts Out Union, Walters Winner
Thursday, April 26th , 1917
Frank Walters handcuffed the Gettysburg Union at Halfway Grounds, coming away with a 6-hit, complete game shutout.
"I had everything working for me out there," the Wauseon Woodpeckers right-hander said later. "I used every one of my pitches, hit both sides of the plate really well and felt like I could do whatever I wanted."
With his stuff working, Walters had little trouble with the Union and led the Woodpeckers to victory, 2-0. He recorded 8 strikeouts and 1 walk in an impressive performance.
This year, Walters has 5 wins and 1 loss and a 2.72 ERA.
