Playoffs Won't Happen for Whites
Friday, May 11th , 1917
The mood in the Carolina Academy Whites clubhouse was noticeably subdued today, as the club's fate on the season was officially sealed -- they will miss the postseason.
"We put ourselves in this position," said Whites catcher Odis Holmes. "Nobody to blame but us."
The Whites have missed the playoffs 15 times in their 16 years as a Legacy Baseball Academy League franchise. This playoff miss is the club's 3rd in a row, with their last postseason appearance coming in 1914. In the last 10 seasons, the Whites have only made the playoffs once.
