Gulf Academy Pitcher Racks Up Academy Pitcher Award
Tuesday, June 6th , 1916
It was a glorious year for Wyatt Moore of the Gulf Academy Blues.

He finished the season with 7 victories and only 5 losses, with an impressive 0.81 ERA. The talented Blues pitcher started 15 games and struck out 62 batters in 121.2 innings and won the Conference 2 Academy Pitcher Award.

"It means a lot," Moore said. "I hadn't really had a chance to sit down and think about it yet. It feels good right now. I can't really put it into words, but I'm sure later on tonight when I have a chance to sit down with my family and think about it, I'll have some words for it. But right now, I'm just happy that it happened this year."

He received 10 first place votes out of a possible 16. Benjamin Ridgeway of the New York Academy Blacks finished second in voting with 5 first place votes, while Luke Hewson of the Appalachia Academy Reds finished third with 1 first place vote.
