Nelson Silences Memphis, 4-0 Sunday, July 18th , 1915 Kansas City Stars pitcher John Nelson blanked the Memphis Bears, 4-0, at Bears Ballpark, tossing a 9-hitter while issuing 1 walk and collecting 3 strikeouts. After his sharp shutout performance, he shared credit with the rest of the club. "I was just locked in out there and some of that is due to having a catcher who has such a great feel for hitters," Nelson said. "I couldn't do what I did without all the guys out there today." To date this season, Nelson has registered 14 starts, 6-8 won-lost mark, 2.65 ERA, 118.2 IP, 44 strikeouts and 37 walks. Opposing teams have hit .257 against him.
