Pope Muzzles Chattanooga Bats
Sunday, July 11th , 1915
An efficient outing for Clyde Pope usually means a win for the Savannah Goobers and today was no exception. The 31-year-old right-hander held the Chattanooga Nickajacks to a long line of goose eggs. He struck out 3 and gave up 3 hits in the 1-0 shutout.
"Clyde really got it done out there today," said Savannah manager Willie Gatewood.
To this point in the season, Pope shows a 9-7 record, 20 starts, 146 innings, 47 strikeouts and a 1.97 ERA.
