Nelson Fires Shutout in Kansas City Victory Wednesday, June 6th , 1917 Kansas City's John Nelson breezed through the Nickajacks lineup, 5-hitting them in a shutout victory, 1-0. Nelson fanned 3, as well. "I didn't really feel like I had my A-game today," Nelson confessed, "but some days are like that -- you just gotta go with what you have." So far this season, Nelson has logged a 7-6 record with a 3.75 ERA. He has started 14 games, hurled 115.1 innings and registered 38 strikeouts and 29 walks.
