Angels Lose at Home, 5-2, to Richmond
The Richmond Rifles picked up a win at Cartwright Stadium, topping the Providence Angels, 5-2. On the mound for Richmond was right-hander Chester Jacks. He played a principal role in the triumph. Jacks, who finished 5th in the EL in wins with 20 in 1914, went the distance for Richmond. He gave up 2 runs on 8 hits. The Rifles, with only their 6th win in 24 games, could be the worst team in the league.

George Culver dealt the Angels a blow in the top of the eighth. Batting with runners on 2nd and 3rd and Richmond leading 2-1, Culver hit a 2-2 cutter for a 2-run single.

"I was trying to do what I do, go out there and compete," said Jacks.
