Black Cats Move on to Negro League Cup Series
On paper, the Cleveland Black Cats will be credited with a 3-0 sweep of the New York Black Kings in the Championship Cup Series, to advance to the Negro League Cup Series.

In reality, said starting pitcher Ernest Jones, it was a lot harder-fought than that might suggest.

"They are a great team and although we won every game, it wasn't easy by any stretch of the imagination," he said.

Cleveland won the final game by a 2-0 score at Newman Field.

Jones earned series MVP honors for the Black Cats, with a 0.00 ERA over 9 innings pitched. He also had a 1-0 record and 2 strikeouts.

The Cleveland Black Cats don't know who they will face in the next round. They will play the winner of the Atlanta Foxes - Savannah Goobers series. Savannah leads the series 2 games to 1. The Negro League Cup Series schedule will be announced after the Championship Cup Series finishes.
