The 8-1 Portland win over Tacoma was due largely to Lillian Vanner. The Rosebuds catcher was 3 for 4 with 3 singles, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. Andrew Collick got the save, his 1st in 1 chances. Portland is now 43-56, Tacoma 59-40.

With Portland leading 1-0 in the top of the fourth, Vanner hit a 2-run single off Tacoma hurler Frank Chapman. It was the 37th hit of the season for Vanner and put his team ahead, 3-0.

"We were firing on all cylinders," said Rosebuds manager Murray Embleton.
