Rosebuds Dealt 3-1 Loss by Spokane
|
Pitching was the name of the game in a tight contest between the Spokane Suns and the Portland Rosebuds. Spokane won it, 3-1. Spokane starter Elzie Gretton was in command. The Suns bumped their record to 49-38 with this win.
Spokane took a 2-1 lead on Dave Scrooby's 21st triple of the season. The run-scoring triple, which Scrooby hit in the bottom of the seventh, left Portland pitcher Percy Sibley visibly frustrated.
"I thought Elzie threw the ball well across the board," said Spokane manager Edward Tardiff.
