Rosebuds Beat Visiting Sawyers, 8-4
|
The Portland Rosebuds beat the Seattle Sawyers, 8-4. Portland pitcher and Laurel, Delaware, native Andrew Collick led the way. In 5.2 innings, Collick surrendered 9 hits, while striking out 5 and walking 3. He allowed 4 runs. Simon Bradley converted his 1st save in 1 tries.
Clark Dethwright, who finished 2nd in the CBL in slugging percentage with .433 in 1911, aided the Portland cause with a run-scoring double in the bottom of the fifth. For the game, the center fielder went 2 for 5 with a double, while scoring 2 runs.
"Winning is hard sometimes," said Rosebuds manager Murray Embleton. "This one was nice to get."
The Rosebuds sport a record of 29-46.
