Mugford Shines in 9-3 Tacoma Win
|
Tony Mugford left his imprint on the 9-3 Tacoma win against the Seattle Sawyers. Mugford, who is tied for 10th in the CBL with a .320 slugging percentage, went 2-3 with a home run, a double, and a walk, while scoring 2 and driving in 4. Lloyd Parker picked up the win, improving his season record to 3-2. He struck out 0 in 8 innings. Tacoma has now won 3 straight, while the Sawyers have lost 3 in a row.
With Tacoma leading 5-1 in the bottom of the sixth, Mugford came up to bat against Seattle pitcher Reinhold Turner. Mugford hit a cutter to left-center for a grand slam home run. His 2nd home run of the season put the Larks on top, 9-1.
"I think it just wasn't our night," said Seattle skipper Cloyd Tressler.
