Elworthy, Sawyers Get 3-1 Win
|
Guido Elworthy, who is tied for 10th in the CBL with a 2.91 ERA, imposed his will on the Rosebuds from the get-go. Relying mainly on his curveball, the right-hander spearheaded the 3-1 Seattle triumph. Earning his 5th save for Seattle was Frederic Sackett. The Sawyers go to 25-33, putting them third in the Cascadian Baseball League.
Elworthy earned the win to move to 8-6. In his 8-inning performance, he scattered 3 hits, striking out 6 and walking 4. The right-hander allowed the Rosebuds few scoring opportunities.
"Guido throwing strikes, pounding the zone, that is exactly what you want to see," said Seattle manager Parker Bell.
