Suns Topple Sawyers with Late Rally
The Seattle Sawyers could not turn a fine performance from pitcher Guido Elworthy into a win. Instead, the Spokane Suns prevailed, 4-2. Elworthy threw 9.0 innings of 6-hit ball. Bruno Barnes was the winner. Over 7 innings, he yielded 2 runs on 7 hits, with 1 walk and 2 strikeouts. John Winfield notched his 10th save of the season.

Spokane used a timely hit from Allie Spracklin to get the win. The center fielder stroked a run-scoring double in the top of the eighth inning to put the Suns ahead, 3-2. It was his only hit in 2 at-bats, but it made an impact.

"Bottom line," said Seattle skipper Parker Bell, "we didn't play well enough to win."

The triumph puts Spokane at 20-17 for the season.
