Sawyers Get Dramatic 1-0 Triumph
In a low-scoring game between the Seattle Sawyers and the Spokane Suns, pitcher Guido Elworthy was masterful on the mound. The Seattle right-hander spearheaded his team's 1-0 win. Seattle reliever Hunter Gosselin picked up the win, raising his record to 1-1. Dalton Poll was tagged with the loss. The Suns fall to 9-12 and continue their uninspiring start to the 1917 season.

The Sawyers got a clutch hit from pitcher Hunter Gosselin. In the bottom of the 13th, he hit a run-scoring double to right, to win the game for the Sawyers.

"Guido was dictating to their hitters," said Seattle manager Parker Bell.
