Charles Jefferson Blanks Los Angeles, 6-0
|
Charles Jefferson had the Los Angeles Lions dancing to his tune during a sparkling 6-0 shutout performance for the Sacramento Miners. He gave up 2 hits, issued 1 walk and had 2 strikeouts.
Los Angeles hitters were bewildered throughout the game by his delivery.
"When you face a guy who hides the ball like he does, it takes a couple of at-bats to try to find his release point," opposing manager Herman Killigrew said. "We just never figured him out."
Jefferson has made 23 starts this season, posting 11 wins and 11 losses. Opposing clubs are batting .233 against him and he has 80 strikeouts in 206.2 innings with a 3.14 ERA.
