Evans Beguiles Oakland
|
It wasn't easy but the Sacramento Miners made it look that way.
Starter Carmelo Evans shut out the Oakland Ducks despite having what he later called "sub-par" stuff, and the Sacramento Miners cruised to victory, 4-0. Evans allowed only 7 hits and rang up 2 strikeouts but insisted later that he did not deserve primary credit for the win.
"It didn't feel quite right today, but I got a lot of help to get through," he said. "I trusted my catcher and the guys behind me bailed me out more than once when I screwed up."
In 17 starts this year, Evans has crafted a 6-7 record and a 1.69 ERA.
