Miners Come Back Late to Top Lions, 8-3
|
Though he had a stellar game, Albert Foale could not prevent his team, the Los Angeles Lions, from losing, 8-3, to the Sacramento Miners. Foale went 3 for 4 with 3 singles. He drove in 3 runs. The third-place Miners now sit at 24-30.
Sacramento used a timely hit from Irvine Collins to get the win. The pinch hitter stroked a bases-clearing double in the top of the eighth inning to put the Miners ahead, 5-3. It was his only hit in 1 at-bat, but it made an impact.
"We'll kick back tonight, then get set for the next one," Collins said.
