5 Straight Wins for Miners
The timely hitting of Prince Pinchin helped the Sacramento Miners down the Los Angeles Lions, 7-4. Pinchin went 2 for 4 with a home run, while adding 4 RBI and scoring once for the Miners. Charles Winslett earned the save, his 7th, for the Miners. The second-place Miners have won 5 straight games.

Tied up with the Lions in the bottom of the fifth inning, the Miners got a boost from catcher General Vaughan. With runners on 1st and 2nd, Vaughan saw a 0-1 splitter from George Bickerdyke and hit a run-scoring single to break the stalemate and put Sacramento on top, 2-1.

In postgame comments to the Sacramento Times, Vaughan said, "If the effort is there, the wins will come."
