Alfonso Hall hurled a fine game for the Los Angeles Lions at Lions Park, holding the Oakland Ducks to 7 hits in a shutout win.

"When he started out, his command wasn't that good, but he's a tough guy," Los Angeles manager Herman Killigrew said. "The more pitches he throws, the better his command is."

The right-hander had 1 strikeout and 1 walk in the 1-0 victory.

"An outstanding job," Oakland manager Magnus Jackson said. "We couldn't get anything going. Every time we got a hit, he got out of the jam. He pitched a terrific game."

This year, Hall has worked 80 innings with 26 strikeouts en route to a 5-3 record and a 1.80 ERA.
