The Savannah Goobers beat the Richmond Black Rifles, 4-2. Savannah starter Don Richardson pitched a gem. Richardson, who finished 2nd in the GSL in innings pitched with 280.1 in 1913, went the distance for Savannah. He gave up 2 runs on 3 hits. The first-place Goobers now have a win-loss record of 50-41.

Savannah used the timely hitting of Albert Miles to seize the win. The first baseman stroked a 2-run single in the top of the ninth inning to put the Goobers on top, 4-2. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.

"Don did a good job of managing their lineup," said Savannah manager Willie Gatewood.
