Stars Earn Win with Late Rally
|
The Kansas City Stars got a strong performance from pitcher Joe Moore, who stymied the Richmond offense en route to a win, 3-2, at Black Rifles Ballpark. The winner was Kansas City reliever Bob Moore, now 3-1. The loser was Bobby Gay. Kid Good picked up the save for Kansas City, his 2nd of the year.
Kansas City used the timely hitting of James Beal to seize the win. The right fielder stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the ninth inning to put the Stars on top, 3-2. It was his only hit in 3 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
"It takes a lot of things to win a ballgame," said Kansas City manager Tommy Ormes. "It's usually not just one thing."
The Stars are now 37-42, while the Black Rifles fall to 32-46.
