Stars Earn Late Win
The Kansas City Stars grabbed a win, 6-5, over the Richmond Black Rifles at Black Rifles Ballpark. Kansas City left fielder Martin Cottingham was 3-4 with a triple, 2 singles, and a walk, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. Kansas City reliever Bob Moore was the winner. His record is now 2-0. Bobby Gay took the loss. Picking up the save was Kid Good. He's now 5 for 6 in save chances.

Who knows how it would've ended, had it not been for Clifford Boada? The 23-year old left fielder Boada stroked a run-scoring double in the top of the ninth inning to put Kansas City up, 6-5. For the game, he was 2 for 4, including 1 double and 1 single.

"Honestly, I'm not frustrated," said Richmond manager Ben England. "The effort was great."

With the win, Kansas City raised its record to 38-37.
